Valves and venting systems are required equipment on all cargo ships carrying Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) liquids. They are critical safety equipment and must operate fault-free at all times. Venting systems stop flames from entering the cargo tank which could otherwise cause a fire, or even an explosion. They also prevent the build-up of gas pressure in tanks, thereby eliminating a health and safety hazard for the crew, cargo contamination and reducing cargo leakage.
